Write a Book: Submission Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in submitting your manuscript to CMC Press. We publish guidebooks, educational texts, adventure narratives, and even an adult coloring book! We're interested in any pitches related to outdoor recreation in Colorado, Utah, and the Mountain West.

CMC Press partners with The Mountaineers Books for distribution, publicity, and marketing, meaning that our titles are sold nationwide in major retailers as well as locally owned bookstores and gear shops. We're an independent, nonprofit publisher, with proceeds benefiting the Colorado Mountain Club's education and conservation efforts.

To submit your pitch for consideration, please email all of the following to cmcpress@cmc.org:

  1. Author Bio, Qualifications, and Work Samples
  2. Book Pitch (What's it all about?)
  3. Sample Table of Contents
  4. Sample Chapter
  5. Competitive Review (What comparable titles are already in print, and how is yours different?)

Partially completed proposals may not be considered. Sample contents are not final and are subject to change. The CMC Press Advisory Board, which reviews all submissions, meets quarterly. Proposals are considered on a rolling first-come, first-served basis. You can expect to hear a final decision within 90 days of submitting your proposal.
