AIARE Avalanche Rescue is a one-day stand alone course that teaches best practices in avalanche rescue techniques and gear.

New participants will learn the basics of companion rescue, while returning participants will expand their skill set with advanced topics and realistic scenario practice to help improve their skills.
Each participant will have the opportunity to receive professional coaching on their rescue skills, and will receive a rescue card acknowledging the completion date. AIARE Avalanche Rescue is a prerequisite for AIARE 2.
AIARE recommends that all backcountry travelers keep their skills current by taking an Avalanche Rescue course and receiving a rescue card at least every other year. CMC requires it at least every 5 years to refresh and update skills CMC leaders and instructors use in the field.
This course will run from 8-4pm in the field on Hoosier Pass or Monarch Pass, conditions dependent.
Special Cancellation Policy for Avalanche Courses
A refund (minus an admin fee) will be issued for any cancellation MORE THAN 30 days from the start of the course. A refund (minus an admin fee) will be issued for any cancellation LESS THAN 30 days from the start of the course ONLY if we are able to fill your spot with another student registration. If we cannot fill your spot, no refund will be issued.

This course has no scheduled activities.
Clothing appropriate for all day in the snow and cold: Base layer, mid layer, shell, hat, sunglasses/goggles, appropriate footwear, multiple pairs of gloves, warm puffy jacket, hand warmers
Safety gear: Avalanche Transceiver, Avalanche Probe, Avalanche Shovel, First-Aid Kit, Repair Kit. (A transceiver, probe, and shovel are available for your use during this class at no extra charge)
Enough food, water, and sunscreen for a full 8 hour day in the field.
Flotation: snows shoes, backcountry touring skis with pin bindings and skins, splitboard with skins, or telemark skis.
