Eckart was a long time, tireless volunteer for the Colorado Mountain Club until his tragic death in a ski lift accident in 2003. The Education Fund was started to honor and remember Eckart the man, the person we climbed with and loved. Since 2004, the fund has awarded grants to help the Denver, Boulder, Pikes Peak, Fort Collins and El Pueblo groups with worthwhile education projects. These have included advanced training for leaders in climbing and skiing, risk management, team building, avalanche awareness and preparedness, and other important education efforts.
This year's dinner will include another exceptional program from Technical Climbing School Volunteer School Director Sheryl Lampert.

Sheryl Lampert is a dedicated Colorado Mountain Club volunteer, trip leader, and school director. She has been one of the most prolific instructors teaching the technical classes offered by the CMC. While not volunteering with the CMC, Sheryl loves to climb. She’s climbed around the world including Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, & Denali. When she isn’t climbing on a rope, she’s using one to walk her dog. She’s also known for her love of cats, beer, and fun.
It’s this combination of personal intensity and approachable humility that has really made Sheryl a leader to new members of the Colorado Mountain Club. She has spearheaded transforming Alpine Climbing School (ACS) with a clear vision on how it can be useful to all aspiring climbers in Colorado with focus on building diversity and inclusion, especially for womens+ members.
Sheryl will be presenting her journey to climb some of the highest peaks in North and South America and how she got there through the education and community of the Colorado Mountain Club.
