COVID 19 & Youth Education Program

There is an innate value in being oustide and learning with others. Our goal for our Youth Education Program (YEP) is to provide a fun and safe learning environment, all the while taking the necessary steps to protect our community.

**UPDATE: Tuesday, November 10, 2020**

As Colorado continues to tighten restrictions, CMC will be monitoring the CDC guidelines and state orders closely. We will be continuing to take a conservative approach, as we want to keep our staff, students, and community members healthy and safe. As most counties are now hitting Stage 3 (or Orange Dial levels), we represent both an Outdoor Guided Service and a Youth Camp. So, although "social gatherings and groups" are limited to 5 or 10 people in two or less households, YEP can still have multi-household group sizes of 10 or less, as long as strict social distancing standards are met. The new protocol starting November 1 is not that different compared to this summer. However, we wanted to reinforce some already existing protocols, as well as tighten down some activity allowances. Here are the major changes:

  1. Children’s Day Camps, Residential Camps, Youth Sports Day Camps and Exempt Single Skill-Building Youth Camps may be conducted with no more than 10 participants outdoors only.
    1. YEP is currently NOT transporporting any participants.
  2. Since we are an Outdoor Guided Service & Youth Camp, we can still run trips and classes outdoors at our multi-household 10-person group limit. However, we are re-emphasizing the importance of masks and physical distancing when participating with multi-household groups!
  3. Please pay attention to your symptoms and your exposure to the virus! More and more people are getting exposed to COVID-19. Google and Apple have just released a contact tracing capability with the iPhone, so add this to your phone if you can: We are highly encouraging you to continue to pay attention to your own symptoms and health.

YEP COVID Guidelines

All participants, parents/guardians must read, acknowledge, and agree to these guidelines (below) prior to registration and attending a program.

*Note for Schools and Groups: Schools and groups who are registering for programs with YEP are expected to have and follow similar guidelines to those of the CMC and YEP below, and adhere to the most updated state and local health and safety mandates at the time of the program:

We are aware that these precautionary measures and guidelines can change rapidly which is why we are continually monitoring expert sources. Additionally, you may review The Colorado Mountain Club’s current COVID-19 response and protocol. It is worth noting that we may amend these guidelines as new information becomes available. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
