NOTE: This is a popular program. If there is a wait list, join it and we'll try to add another Trip Leader.
NOTE: Please do not sign up for this trip unless you fully intend to participate on trip day. DO NOT sign up for more than one trip while you “decide which one to take.” Your Trip Leader and AH Coordinators put a lot of effort into planning this trip. Last minute cancellations and no-shows are very discouraging and, in sufficient numbers, may jeopardize the program. SO, PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS TRIP UNLESS YOU FULLY INTEND TO PARTICIPATE ON TRIP DAY!

Whenever you have to cancel out of a trip, it is your responsibility to do that online. I will see your cancellation. Here's how: Log in to cmc.org>Members>My Membership>My Trips> find this trip (all your upcoming trips are listed in date order). Click "cancel."
IN ADDITION: Please TEXT me if you have to cancel the night before or the morning of. Emails will be lost in my inbox.
Meet at The Fort restaurant at 6:30 AM; we will leave at 6:45 AM. Meet at the dirt parking area in front of The Fort, 19192 Colorado 8, Morrison, CO 80465. CO 8 is about a mile west of C470 and the fort is about a half mile north of 285 on the right side. Park at north end of strip.
Take 285 about 6 miles past Bailey, the trail head is on left hand side of road on the road. Only 12 spots here so carpooling encouraged.
Ben Tyler Trail: We'll hike on trail to the top of Kenosha Crest. Views of Pikes Pk, South Park, Mosquito Range, and the Evans massif.
I will write you with a weather forecast the day before. Do not assume bad weather means the trip is canceled. We only cancel if the roads are treacherous. We just try to dress appropriately.
Please bring those of the 10 Essentials https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/ten-essentials.html appropriate to a mountain hike: Wear proper hiking boots, sunglasses and sunscreen, a hat, a personal first aid kit, nutrition items, and plenty of water. Rain jacket with hood is a year-round pack item.
Much of this trail is steep (2000 ft gain in first 3 miles), so bring hiking poles if you use them.
Let me know of any medical conditions that might affect you on the hike.
Starting this May, the Denver Member Initiatives Committee (DMIC) is pleased to offer the fourth annual Ascending Hikes series. It is designed for CMC members of all ages wanting to increase (or recover) hiking speed and stamina. The series also provides an opportunity to meet CMC veterans, make new friends, and explore more of Colorado's hiking trails. The AH series provides everyone a supportive way to work on their day hiking skills.
Hikes start off easy and gradually progress in length and difficulty so you're ready to tackle a new challenge by the end of summer. We’ll even offer a couple of high peak climbs just for AH Participants at the end of the season!
No big commitment. You can jump in or out anytime.
