Six to eight mile round trip, depending on conditions and group dynamics. Starting elevation 8000 ft, high elevation 10,750. First two miles (600 ft) of route on summer road. Slope angles for skiing and surrounding terrain less than 28 degrees. Must have competent ski touring ability, solid snowplow in untracked brushy terrain, use metal edged backcountry skis and be experienced with skins. Telemark or AT bindings required. Adjustable length poles recommended. Must be confident of pacing for 4-6 hour outing in winter conditions. Day pack should include extra jacket, hat, gloves, energy food and hydration beyond what you plan on consuming. Beautiful scenery in willow, aspen, and evergreen forest. Trip will be cancelled if weather or snow conditions miserable.
