Meet at American Mountaineering Center (CMC building in Golden) across street on east side of building.  We travel north to Lyons, then west to TH on Taylor Mtn Rd just short of Allenspark.  You may carpool or not - your choice but the leader will not.  Parking is very limited so I am hoping no more than 5 cars.  Expect a trip intro message Friday evening with final details.

You need to be fully vaccinated against the SARS-Cov-2 virus to participate.  And please wear a mask at meeting place and TH.  Your choice while hiking.

The leader has been waiting for several years to snowshoe here but never enough snow, till now (well maybe).  Taylor Mountain is accessible from Taylor Mountain Road off Route-7 between Lyons and Allenspark.  This snowshow will be mostly on FS roads starting from the winter closues gate on Taylor Mtn Road.  The roads are fairly flat but we will try to ascend Taylor Mtn (not steep) and then on to Big John Mtn which will be off trail.  The trip includes a view into the 1500' deep St Vrain North Fork canyon.  The North Fork area has great hiking opportunities but CMC trips just seem to pass it by, except this leader who has led dozen+ trips to the area.  Bring both snowshoes and micro spikes (in case the snow is thin).  The leader has been over the route except the traverse to Big John, which could be interesting.  This could be an easy-B hike but if there is sufficient snow it will be harder.
