Details

This area is a popular cross country skiing and snowshoeing area near Fraser Colorado and well worth the drive!  Temperatures are often in the mid 20 degree range and very pleasant for snowshoeing. If there is new snow and not much broken trail we will take turns breaking trail.   This snowshoe is for moderately paced hiker in the 2.0 -2.5 mph ave. moving speed. Since snowshoeing is slower,  our ave. moving  speed  should be around 1.6 mph  going uphill.

This loop heads out at the Leland TH.   We turnon fool Creek road to the south and then west on the King Creek Road which intersects St. Louis Creek road.  We will assess the group stamina and determine at this point whether we return on St. Louis Creek Road ( 5 mile loop) or return via East St Louis Creek road which  will be a 7 mile Loop.

Bring snowshoes, poles if you use them, 10 essentials and full winter gear, including handwarmers in the event our temperatures are cold.

https://trails.colorado.gov/trails/byers-peak-12330  This is the best I  could find of the route.  ( move the map until you see Leland Creek Trail head.) According to this map we head out on 159.0 and turn south on 162 and then take 163 across the  road to head back on 164 ( West St. Louis Creek).
