Northern terminus at Green Valley Ranch: Within eyesight of Denver International Airport, the HLC comes to its end. When it was built, this high prairie area allowed the Canal to come to a natural conclusion to its long journey. Now, new development sprouts up allowing folks to live close to the airport, something the HLC planners never even imagined.

We'll meet at the end of the segment,  E. 64th and Fundy, Denver, CO. From here we will carpool to the beginning of the hike.

At the end of the trail, we are only a quarter mile away from Gaylord Convention complex. We might want to walk up and have a nice lunch, celebrating the 71 (more or less) miles we followed the Canal.

P.S. The High Line canal starts in Waterton Canyon and meanders through the metro area all the way to DIA. The is walking the whole 71 miles one segment at the time - 14 of them. Each segment has its own history and views. Check it out if your interested.

Also check out the High Line Canal Conservancy and Denver Water for more information.

A recommended book: The Thunder Tree: Lessons from an Urban Wildland by Robert Michael Pyle, 1993.

Bring snacks, water, warm clothing and micro spikes as it might be icy on parts of the trail.
