We will meet at Horsetooth Mountain parking lot trailhead, ready to hike at 530pm.
Check out Colorado Trail Explorer (COTREX) for trail information : https://trails.colorado.gov/
To register for this trip or if you have any questions, please contact the trip leader Jodi Vanden Eng at warriorjourney1@gmail.com
When emailing (if this is your first time joining) please send me a short description of what recent activity of a comparable fitness level (altitude gain and distance) you have done (in the past month).
This 'trip' is #3 of a 4 part training series of after work night hikes/rucks.
We will start at a trailhead off of HT and head to the HT summit and back (via some combination of horsetooth rock, south ridge and Audra Culver trails). We will likely have good views of the stars and planets as well as the city lights of Fort Collins.
This evening hike will be a weekday workout for those of us avoiding the gym due to coronavirus or training for a post covid adventure :) Therefore this 'trip' is meant to be a more rigorous hike and not a "casual jaunt". Round trip time should be under 2 hours (thats a 2.5-3 mph pace uphill-- a fast hike, not a trail run).
Bring the 10 essentials, especially a headlamp, and warmer clothes...as we will be returning in the dark. Be sure to check trail conditions and have microspikes available if needed (I will email the group if different traction is needed).
Individuals without a headlamp and mask (when we meet in the parking area) will NOT be allowed on the hike.
This will be a rain or shine hike, unless electrical storm.
I will send out an email if the hike is cancelled due to conditions.
For those wanting an additional fitness challenge, you can bring your own rucksacks, or add weight to your hiking packs with water or sand bags (recommend starting with no weight if it is your first time and increment by 5 lbs or 2.5L each time).
