The aspen leaves are changing color and the bull elk are starting to gather their harems, so what better time for a fall hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. This is a loop hike following both the Wind River and the Glacier Creek trails in RMNP. From the seldom used East Portal Trailhead in Estes Park, CO we will follow the Wind River trail into Rocky Mountain National Park and intersect with the Storm Pass trail. We will then hike over to beautiful Sprague Lake, where we will have our lunch before connecting with the Glacier Creek trail that we will take back to the East Portal Trailhead where the hike started.

The total distance will be approximately 5.5 miles with an elevation gain of 1,100 feet. This should be a great fall hike on seldom used trails, and would be a great hike for any newer CMC member or more experienced CMC members looking for an easy hike while enjoying the fall colors and listening for elk. We might even be able to spot a moose or two, as they are often seen in the Sprague Lake area. Feel free to contact the trip leader with any questions, or to get more information on the route. Refreshment stop possible in Estes Park after the hike. Bring you essentials, including water, lunch, and a rain jacket. Ride share from Loveland could be $5. COVID-19 vaccination is required to participate.
