Clark Peak at 12,960' is the highest point in the Medicine Bow Mountains, Jackson County Colorado, and the North Platte River drainage basin.  We will start our ascent from Ruby Jewel Road in the Colorado State Forest State Park.  Depending on road conditions and vehicle types we may be able to drive a little further and shorten the listed distance somewhat.

Our hiking route will be on-trail as far as Ruby Jewel Lake and then off-trail for most of the rest of the day.   Total gain to the summit is about 3500 feet via grassy/rocky slopes on Clark's western flank (Class 2).  Weather permitting, we will then walk along a ridgeline to the south passing a series of localized saddles and peaks that will add ~300 to 400 feet to our total elevation gain and provide views down into the Rawah Wilderness and beyond.  We will then bushwhack our way west down to the road to make it a loop hike.

CMC members may register on-line.  Interested guests should contact the trip leader at stevedielman@gmail.com.
