Details

Certainly one of the most beautiful hikes in RMNP.  Lion Lake #1, Lion Lake #2, and Snowbank Lake are located in the northwest corner of the Wild Basin Area in Rocky Mountain National Park. The lakes occupy an idyllic alpine basin framed by Pilot Mountain (12,222’), Mount Alice (13,310’), and the north ridge of Mt Orton (11,724’). A maintained trail leads 6.8 miles to Lion Lake #1, beyond which a well-established and intuitively followed cross-country route continues up Trio Falls to Lion Lake #2 and Snowbank Lake.

Must have ALL 10 essentials.

Consider bringing trekking poles as we will most likely be walking in some snow in the lakes area and jumping streams.

Notes

All participants sign up with the knowledge that their contact information will be shared with the other hike participants to facilitate meeting at different carpool locations.

*This is a Bobcat trip. The Bobcats mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, especially “B Difficult” and “C” hikes and Difficult Snowshoes, for our mostly age-50+ constituents.  Although we have members, our trips are non-exclusive.  We welcome all CMC members to sign up for any Bobcats trip regardless of age or Bobcats membership. To join our mailing list, write or call CMC Membership Services at: office@cmc.org or (303) 279-3080.
