Details

At 13,852 feet elevation, Crystal Peak is the 82nd highest peak in Colorado according to 14ers.com, and therefore is one of Colorado's Centennial Peaks (top 100 peaks)

We will be taking the standard route, the Northeast Ridge route, rated Class 2, from the Spruce Creek Trailhead up to Crystal Peak.  From the trailhead up to near the saddle between Crystal Peak and Peak 10, the trail is well defined.  At that point we will then walk across grass and stable talus to reach the Crystal - Peak 10 saddle.  From the saddle, there are a couple of narrow spots but nothing that exceeds class 2 (light scrambling)

From Crystal Peak, we will return to the saddle and then continue north, with some minor scrambling to Peak 10.

Notes

This is a CMC Bobcats trip

The Bobcats’ mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, mostly on weekdays, all year long, for our mostly 50+ constituents. We don’t have dues or elections and we invite ALL CMC members to sign up for any Bobcat trip. You can search the CMC Calendar for Bobcat trips any time by selecting “Bobcats Section” in the CMC Trip Calendar “Section" pull-down menu. We send out a monthly email to our members with all the coming month’s trips, just after those trips are activated. To join our free mailing list and become a member, select the "Bobcats Section" anytime in your Member Profile (Log-in>Members>My Membership>Member Profile)

The mileage allowance per car is 140 miles x .30 = $42.  This will be divided by the number of people in each car

There will be an optional celebratory stop after the hike for those who are interested.
