Mount Harvard, in the Sawatch Range, is the third highest peak in Colorado.

We will be meeting at the trailhead, the North Cottonwood Creek Trailhead.   Here’s a Google Maps link to the trailhead:  The plan is to start hiking at 6:30am.  There are no toilets at the trailhead

You may elect to drive from the Denver area the day either trip, and return the day of either trip, or stay in or near Buena Vista.  Because of the difficulty of the hike, it is highly recommended that you stay in or near Buena Vista either the night before or the night after the hike, or both.

There are numerous motels and camping areas in the area.

If you want to register for this trip, please email me with your name and your CMC member id.  If I do not know who you are, you will also have to state two or three recent hikes you have been on that demonstrate that you can do this one.

We will be following the South Slopes route up Mt. Harvard.  This is the standard route up Mt Harvard.  The trailhead is at about 9900 feet.  The summit is at 14,420 ft.  The trail is well defined.  There is some Class 2 scrambling up the last 50 feet of vertical to the summit

This trip is a "Long DIfficult C" hike.  Based solely on the distance and elevation gain, it would be considered a "Difficult D" hike, but because it is non-technical - a hike with some Class 2 scrambling - it is instead labelled a "Long Difficult C"

This hike is limited to vaccinated CMC members only or those members with a negative PCR COVIS-19 test within three days of the trip.

This is a CMC Bobcats trip

The Bobcats’ mission is to ensure a variety of challenging CMC trips, mostly on weekdays, all year long, for our mostly 50+ constituents. We don’t have dues or elections and we invite ALL CMC members to sign up for any Bobcat trip. You can search the CMC Calendar for Bobcat trips any time by selecting “Bobcats Section” in the CMC Trip Calendar “Section" pull-down menu. We send out a monthly email to our members with all the coming month’s trips, just after those trips are activated. To join our free mailing list and become a member, select the "Bobcats Section" anytime in your Member Profile (Log-in>Members>My Membership>Member Profile)

The mileage allowance per car is 220 miles x .30 = $66.  This will be divided by the number of people in each car

There will be an optional celebratory stop after the hike for those who are interested.

Sorry it is past the registration deadline for this event.
