Whenever you have to cancel out of a trip, it is your responsibility to do that online. I will see your cancellation. Here's how: Log in to>Members>My Membership>My trips> find this trip (all your upcoming trips are listed in date order). Click "cancel."

IN ADDITION: Please TEXT me if you have to cancel the night before or the morning of. Emails will be lost in my inbox.

What better way to get ready to climb a 14er than to climb a 13er.  That's what we'll do on this hike!

I will  write you with a weather forecast the day before. Do not assume bad weather means the trip is canceled. We only cancel if the roads are treacherous. We just try to dress appropriately.

Please bring those of the 10 Essentials appropriate to a mountain hike:  Wear proper hiking boots, sunglasses and sunscreen, a hat, a personal first aid kit, nutrition items, and plenty of water. Rain jacket with hood is a year-round pack item.

Part of the trail is steep, so bring hiking poles if you use them. If you have never used hiking poles, I have a few to loan, if you'd like to try them.

No jeans or cotton clothing. We can talk more about all that on trip day.

NO Dogs, please. Look for designated "Doggie Hikes" on the calendar.

Let me know of any medical conditions that might affect you on the hike.

We follow the well defined trail to 12,200, then head off trail to the ridgeline, then follow the ridgeline to the summit.  Great views of Grays, Torrey, Grizzly, Square Top, Edwards, Agrgentine and others.

Per a trip description I have from a Dave Muller writeup, "This is a moderately steep hike to a ridge and a peak overlooking three lovely mountain valleys.  The off trail portion of the hike is above timberline and proceeds easily to a grassy ridge and a summit that can be seen to the north throughout the second half of the hike."

The round trip hikng distance is 9 miles with 2875 feet of elevation gain.

The hiking pace will accommodate all hikers.

Starting this May, the Denver Member Initiatives Committee (DMIC) is pleased to offer the third annual Ascending Hikes series.  It is designed for CMC members of all ages wanting to increase (or recover) hiking speed and stamina.  The series also provides an opportunity to meet CMC veterans, make new friends, and explore more of Colorado's hiking trails.  The AH series provides everyone a supportive way to work on their day hiking skills.

Hikes start off easy and gradually progress in length and difficulty so you're ready to tackle a new challenge by the end of summer.  We’ll even offer a couple of 14’er climbs just for AH Participants at the end of the season!
No big commitment. You can jump in or out anytime.
