Ascending Hike Series - Will be released - 6/24/2021

This is a loop that crosses the top portion of the park. We will be going counterclockwise starting at the top center of the loop. We will break in Frazer Meadow if the weather is clear enough.

Route: Snowshoe Trailhead - Snowshoe Hare Trail to Mule Deer, Mule Deer northwest to Panoramic Point, stop for views at Panoramic Point, continue south on Mule Deer/Raccoon Trail to turn off for Coyote Trailhead, hike east on Coyote Trail past the bootlegger cabin, up and over the ridgeline, drop down into Frazer Meadow. Break in Frazer Meadow, then back up the east side of Mule Deer to the Snowshoe Hare turnoff towards Aspen Meadows Campground. Drop down the Snowshoe Hare loop to see Dude's Fishing Hole, then back to the cars.

A nice 11 mile difficult B/easy C with up and down gain and loss throughout, all under treeline and below 9500 feet. Very few water sources on this hike in late July.

Whenever you have to cancel out of a trip, it is your responsibility to do that online. I will see your cancellation. Here is how: Log into Membership-My trips- find this trip (all your upcoming trips are listed in date order) click -cancel.

IN ADDITION: Please TEXT me if you have to cancel the night before or the morning of. Emails will be lost in my inbox.

I will l write you with a weather forecast the day before. Do not assume bad weather means the trip is canceled. We only cancel if the roads are treacherous. We just try to dress appropriately.

Please bring those of the 10 Essentials appropriate to a mountain hike:  Wear proper hiking boots, sunglasses and sunscreen, a hat, a personal first aid kit, nutrition items, and plenty of water. Rain jacket with hood is a year-round pack item.

Part of the trail is steep, so bring hiking poles if you use them.

No jeans or cotton clothing. We can talk more about all that on trip day.

NO Dogs, please. Look for designated "Doggie Hikes" on the calendar.

Let me know of any medical conditions that might affect you on the hike.

Starting this May, the Denver Member Initiatives Committee (DMIC) is pleased to offer the third annual Ascending Hikes series.  It is designed for CMC members of all ages wanting to increase (or recover) hiking speed and stamina.  The series also provides an opportunity to meet CMC veterans, make new friends, and explore more of Colorado's hiking trails.  The AH series provides everyone a supportive way to work on their day hiking skills.

Hikes start off easy and gradually progress in length and difficulty so you're ready to tackle a new challenge by the end of summer.  We’ll even offer a couple of 14’er climbs just for AH Participants at the end of the season!
No big commitment. You can jump in or out anytime.
