Let's visit one of Colorado's hidden gems for Labor Day Weekend. Outside the historic mining town of Creede, the Wheeler Geologic Area is a weird alienscape of rock formations-- the result of volcanic eruptions that have eroded over the millennia. We will basecamp for 2 nights in the same spot, and spend Day 2 exploring the formations from there. Day 2 will be about experience more than miles, and will likely end with a social afternoon back at camp.

We will meet at 10 am at the trailhead on Sept 4, so it is possible to drive down on Day 1 if you leave Denver early. It is a 5 hour drive via 285.

Option to stop for lunch in South Fork on Day 3.

Meeting location and carpooling info will be provided via email prior to trip date.
