This course is cancelled. Please check for a future offering of this course.
Here is an opportunity to reinforce and expand what you have been learning about how to run trips to the backcountry. The group will plan and conduct a hike of 3 to 7 miles. The route will involve some off-trail hiking. Learn to plan with your group and adjust the trip based on conditions and resources in the field. This is for people who have some background in mountain hiking. A prerequisite is a course or equivalent experience with mountain navigation such as the course “Wilderness Navigation” taught in this group. Other needed background is in areas of: appropriate clothing, weather, hazards, method of "10 essentials", and survival priorities. Additional information will be presented about managing trips, planning routes, and following routes. This is great preparation for running your own trips or as background for becoming a CMC trip leader.
