Details

DUE TO WINTER WEATHER TRAIL CONDITIONS, bring a traction control device - microspikes, yaktracks, or snowshoes. This gently traveled trail has plenty of slippery spots due to the freeze-thaw cycle found within the confines of Waterton Canyou, adjacent to the South Platte River.

We shall proceed at a slow (uphill) and a casual (flat-downhill) pace for only several hours up Waterton Canyon. We shall have an extended break at the turnaround time/point, before returning to the mainparking lot. I expect we shall cover between 3-4 miles over the course of 3-4 hours. Estimated return time to the CMC is between 1:00pm-2:00pm. Bring as many of the Ten Essentials as you possess, especially extra warm clothing. I recommend trekking poles for ease maintaining balance and traction.
