Details

Thunder Lake is a beautiful alpine lake in the Wild Basin Area of RMNP.  This will be a long and strenuous hike/snowshoe.  There is the possibility that we will not make our destination if there is heavy snow on the trail.  Participants MUST have Microspikes and Snowshoes.  We will most likely start with spikes as we will walk on the road to the Wild Basin Ranger Station Traihead which adds the extra mileage to our trip.

Snowshoes MUST be securely fastened to your backpack.  Please have all 10 essentials and dress in layers.  Much of the trail will be wooded so winds will not be a huge factor.  Participants could be on the trail for as much as 10 hours so please do not sign up if you are unsure of your fitness level. We will hike a steady, moderately fast pace.
