Fall in Colorado sure is beautiful, but have you ever wondered what all the hype is about fall in the Northeast? Now is your chance to find out! Come enjoy a week of hut-to-hut hiking in New Hampshire's White Mountains during peak fall foliage season. This seven day, six night trip will consist of daytime hiking along the famed Appalachian Trail (AT), completing parts of the Franconia Ridge and the Presidential Traverse, often noted as two of the most beautiful and rugged sections on the entire AT.
On the final day, we will summit Mt. Washington, New Hampshire's state highpoint (and home to some of the worst weather ever recorded - but don't worry, I've been promised a bluebird day).
Lodging will be bunkhouse style with sumptuous dinners and breakfasts, so we'll be carrying only daypacks with our lunches, snacks, and clothing.
The huts are spaced 6-8 miles apart and elevation gains will range from 2,000 to 3,000 feet per day. The Mt. Washington summit day will be longer. Along the way, we'll enjoy hiking both through and above New Hampshire's variegated Fall colors.
Day hikes from hut to hut enjoying the stunning fall foliage in New England. Hikes will range in difficulty from B to D Level Hikes. See Hike Classifications Guide Here.
We will be staying in the Appalachain Mountain Club (AMC) alpine huts for four nights. The other two nights we will stay in lodges. The rooms are co-ed bunk style and bedding is provided.
The Colorado Mountain Club will make every effort to carry out this trip. However, if the trip is canceled by the CMC, all money collected from participants, including any “non-refundable deposit” shall be returned. Participant will not be reimbursed for any other purchase made for the trip or other expenses that the participant may have paid in association with this trip, which includes equipment purchase, airline cancelation penalties or medical inoculations.
