Trip Overview

Discover an area rich in historical tradition, with language and customs of their own, and a setting for many battles in WWI. Hike the old battlefields and other unforgettable ridge hikes accompanied by local people. Using an extensive ski lift system we can reach those higher elevations effortlessly.

This trip starts in Milano where we get over initial jetlag visiting Leonardo da Vinci’s Last Supper, the Italian Gothic Duomo, etc. On our way to the mountains we stop in Bolzano for a  few hours to see Otzi, the Iceman. We then head to Corvara, where we will stay for a week at a family run 4-star hotel with gourmet food. You can take an Italian cooking class with their Chef, relax at their spa with a pool, and enjoy beautiful views.

Your Italian speaking CMC leader has led a previous successful CMC trip to the Dolomites and is excited to explore even more! We will also be traveling with local people, who will help you truly understand the deep history and culture of the area.

Activities Dolomites Hikes

Trip Leader: M.Beatriz Silveira

I have been a member of the club for over 20 years and a leader for the majority of this time. As a retired physician, I also did a Fellowship in Wilderness Medicine and taught for many years at The Wilderness First Aid School. I am an instructor with The Red Cross and I teach the Adult First Aid, CPR and AED at the CMC. I speak 5 languages fluently, I lived in Italy and I am fluent in Italian. I usually hike in Europe for about 3 weeks every year. In July 2015, I hiked in the Dolomites myself and was enthralled by its beauty and easy access. It was then the idea for this trip was born. I have done all hikes of my proposed trip minus one (3 Cime of Lavaredo) and I intend to have it done before the group gets there!
