Katie Blackett comes to Colorado Mountain Club with over 9 years of financial and management experience, in both the for-profit and non-profit sector.   Katie has many years of board experience having sat on the Campfire board, USATF Colorado, and BoldeReach.  To keep
her worldly knowledge up to date and her calendar as full as possible, she teaches Economics and Business at Front Range Community College.  Katie holds an undergraduate degree from Villanova University where she attended on an athletic scholarship as well as an MBA.  Katie has been a professional runner for 8 years having run in the last two marathon Olympic Trials.  She currently lives in Boulder, Colorado with her husband Matt Schneider and their adorable Golden Retriever Tollie.  Katie is thrilled to be the CEO of CMC and hopes to continue strengthening the tremendous organization that CMC is. Katie is a member of the Boulder Group.

Cathy came to the Colorado Mountain Club over 14 years ago amid boxes and dust as the corporate offices were located in the not yet renovated American Mountaineering Center. Her accounting and finance experience is extensive and includes serving as Treasurer of several local non profits

in the past and is currently on the finance committee for Metro Volunteers. When she isn’t working (which is rarely), she likes to visit castles and hang out in the mountains with her husband, children and grandchildren. Cathy is a Colorado native and lives in Golden with her family and three black and white cats. Cathy has been a member of the CMC since 1994.

Shelby is happy to join the team at CMC after years of for-profit financial management in Chicago.  She is a new resident of Colorado, but her love of the mountains was developed over years of family vacations in the Rockies, and she has always wanted to make a permanent move out

west.  She lives in Denver and spends her free time exploring her new home, hiking, running, and enjoying the mountain air. Shelby is a member of the Denver group.

Formerly the curator of the Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum, Chris Case became the editor
and designer of Trail & Timberline in September 2008. He is also the marketing strategist for the Club. He has honed visual and creative skills from his background as a freelance photographer. Chris holds a master’s degree in Journalism (with a concentration in documentary photography) from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to receiving that degree, Chris held a communications internship with the Jane Goodall Institute in the Washington, D.C. area. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience from Colgate University. An elite-level cyclist, Chris lives in Golden.

Alan Stark has spent 32 years in book publishing starting as a textbook rep at Random House and then Harcourt. He signed on at Westview Press as a sales manager, moved to Colorado Associated
University Press as a marketing manager and then on to Fulcrum Publishing as their first director of sales and marketing and second vice president. He started his own publishing company, Travis Ilse Publishers that he subsequently sold to Sasquatch Books. Next he worked for the Mountaineers Books as director of sales and marketing and was then hired by Ski and Skiing magazines as associate publisher of Mountain Sports Press. He is a slow trail runner having come in dead last two years in a row in the Mountain Race Circuit (1984-85) and has lead three sea kayaking trips to the west coast of Vancouver Island and usually returned with all the people he left with. He lives in north Boulder with his best friend Linda and a Portuguese Water Dog, Mack, who refuses to swim. Alan is a member of the Boulder group.

Bryan has worked on conservation and recreation projects his entire career. After earning his degree from Pennsylvania State University, he traveled to Queensland, Australia to work for the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service on the planning, design, and construction
of a long-range hiking trail through the D’Aguilar Range northwest of Brisbane. Returning to the U.S. with this new experience, Bryan became a passionate advocate for recreation’s role in the conservation and preservation of natural areas. Bryan is a member of the Boulder Group.

Anya spent several seasons working on and leading trail crews for the City of Boulder's Mountain Parks and Open Space Department. While pursuing a degree in Human Ecology from Stanford University, she worked on monitoring and GIS mapping with The Nature Conservancy in Colorado
and spent six months researching grazing and land use patterns in the Succulent Karoo Biome, a biodiversity hotspot in South Africa. After graduating, Anya was drawn to New Mexico where she worked as a researcher at the Valles Caldera National Preserve. Designated by Congress in 2000, the 89,000-acre Preserve is known as a case study for multiple-use management of public lands, seeking to unite diverse stakeholders through science-based adaptive management. In 2006, Anya joined the staff of the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative as Volunteer Coordinator and later Restoration Manager, planning and supervising trail construction, restoration and maintenance projects and public education efforts on Colorado's peaks over 14,000 ft (4,267 meters). Anya is a member of the Colorado Native Plant Society and is certified as a Leave No Trace Master Educator. Anya is a member of the Boulder Group.

Jay has been a fan of the outdoors since he was very young. 

Working towards Eagle Scout as a kid, Jay learned the values of community, wilderness, and outdoor recreation.  As a student at Duke University, he led backpacking trips, climbing trips and ropes courses in and around Pisgah National Forest.  After college, Jay worked around the country on several different conservation campaigns before taking a breather as a ski bum and ski instructor in Telluride.  Three years of law school at Indiana University-Bloomington and one Colorado bar exam later, Jay has now returned to Colorado for good.  He is a very happy member of the Denver Group and looks forward to protecting and enjoying Colorado’s natural spaces.

Prior to joining the CMC in November 2009, Sarah spent two years as the Deputy Director of Colorado Environmental Coalition, and five years at the Colorado Fourteeners Initiative, doing everything from designing fourteener trails to

managing field crews to raising project funds. Sarah has spent time as a backcountry ranger in Alaska and Leadville, has worked as a GIS analyst and land use planner, and was the chief copy editor for an English-language newspaper in Taipei, Taiwan. Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Colorado College in 1995, and holds a masters degree in nonprofit management from Regis University. She is an avid telemark skier, hiker, fourteener climber, nordic skier, trail runner, and cyclist, and is a member of the Denver group.

, master of nonprofit management student, Regis University Brenda initiated the CMC's Youth Education Program in 1999. She was thrilled to culminate
her past work for regional parks, non-profits and schools as naturalist, guide, science teacher, outdoor program manager, and Peace Corps/Honduras community development volunteer. Brenda is active in the Association for Experiential Education (AEE), currently serving as chair of the Rocky Mountain Region and co-chair of the Conferences Advisory Committee. She enjoys hiking and back-country skiing with Bellatrix, the friendly Labrador retriever often seen at the CMC, as well as watercolor painting in the open air.
Certifications: Wilderness First Responder/CPR (first aid), Leave No Trace Master, past Colorado Teaching License, Native Plant Master. Brenda has been a CMC member since 1997.

Stacy joined the YEP staff in October, 2006. Her work as naturalist and educator for the Colorado Division of Wildlife, environmental learning centers, and public schools has provided Stacy with

A climber since 1986 and guide since 1993, Jake has traveled the world helping people reach the summits of their dreams. By the time he was 33 years old, Jake had already spent over a year of his life on Mount
Everest on 5 expeditions with two summits of the mountain. Aside from climbing, Jake has accomplished great things in his career as a professional photographer. Working for prestigious media outlets such as Discovery, PBS/NOVA, BBC, Channel-4, and the Outdoor Life Network, Jake has covered assignments in South Africa, Costa Rica, Iceland, Nepal, Tibet, and throughout the USA. His photographic work has been published in Outside Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, Men's Journal, Vanity Fair, Forbes, and countless other national and international publications, and has also been used in major ad campaigns by Toyota and Ford. Jake also makes a special point of giving back to our community and the world. He is proud to serve on the Board of Directors for Porters’ Progress and as Chairman of the Board for the Bradford Washburn American Mountaineering Museum. He is also a partner of Colorado PTA and actively supports Educate the Children, and Water for People, the American Himalayan Foundation, and many other non-profit organizations.

Growing up in southern Indiana, Sarah always had her eye on the western mountains. After finishing her marketing degree at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, Sarah worked in the Country Music Industry

for 7 years wearing many hats including running her own creative marketing and management business. Since moving to Colorado in 2008, Sarah has found the ultimate fit for her business skills and outdoor lifestyle. Sarah enjoys sitting on the Board of Directors for BoldeReach and volunteering creative services for the Thorne Ecological Institute, The Charley Foundation and ClimateSmart.
